Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

Bag Lady.

My whole family calls me the bag lady as when I was younger I might have been a little bit obsessed with buying bags, not nice bags either. I had a whole array of those stuffed animal style ones, I even owned a Bear in the Big Blue House one (Why? I do not know! Don't think I even liked that programme!), it's no wonder I got bullied at school really is it?

Anyhoo, back to the matter at hand; bags. I'm a lifelong fan but rarely buy them any more, I just use the same ones everyday and for going out. I'd much rather spend my money on makeup...

But there is one bag that I have been lusting after since 2007. yep.

The Prada Fairy Bag of Miuccia's 2008 Spring Collection.

I adored it as soon as I spied it on the blogs and forums that I used to follow and have wanted it ever since, I sometimes even find myself daydreaming about it!

It's made of deerskin leather and this is rumoured to have a very subtle sparkle effect going on with it, which would fit the ethereal theme if true. The illustrations are by James Jean and are a part of the wearable art movement and I love them, they give an almost doodle like feel and are completely enchanting. Having them on a bag would be like carrying a work of art around on your arm! I love that they aren't all colour and just the fairies have colour on them, I think that's what keeps the bag chic and grown up, something worthy of Prada. I think it's the fact that it's not too overtly adult-like that attracts me, it looks youthful and even timeless but it's definitely not a classic bag. I imagine that it would make a great heirloom as when do fairies and nature go out of fashion? Especially in springtime.

I would love to own one but they were only very limited and cost around £2000 at the time (God knows how much they'd be going for nowadays!) so I doubt one will be on it's way to me particularly soon. I can but dream.

Is there anything you've been lusting after for years?

  1. I only found out about these bags a little while back! What a shaaaame.
    James Jean is the shit!

  2. That is such a cute bag, bag lady!

  3. I fell head over heels with that bag too....
oh and I used to buy so many bags when I was younger,
now I'd rather save and buy something decent (still only around £50) so it lasts. I don't think I'd ever have enough for designer.
