Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

What I Bought

Payday has been and gone and this is what I've splurged on... (Really need to start saving!)

This Is England DVD - £3
It's one of my favourites
No7 Eyeshadow Blend & Contour Brush - £6.64
Caused a right pavalava at the self-checkout getting this as I wanted to use my £5 off voucher and there were no SAs around to come put the code in/ do what they do. So I just stood there with it making a scary noise at me. Ended up paying full price for it in the end as I just ran away and left it beeping.
Hairgrips - Boots - £1.69
Always losing these!
Natural Collection Eye Shadows in Milk Chocolate and Crushed Walnut - £1.99 each
I needed some good crease colours to go with Brule and these were really pigmented!
No7 Limited Edition Lipstick in Brigitte - £10 but successfully bought this with my £5 off voucher so £5
Saw this on Ruth's video and loved it, it will be pretty in springtime I think.
Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Pink Mallow - £1.99
I've been looking for a pink shade like this for a while now, not too bright but not too pale so when I swatched this it went in the basket...
Wedges - New Look - £24.99
Tried these on and loved how comfy they were, no idea when I'll be wearing them but nevermind.
Got2B Powder'ful Instant Volumizer - Around £2 (It was half price)
No idea why I purchased this lol, it was just on offer and looked interesting, I doubt it'll work though but we'll see
Bird Ring - New Look - £4.50?
I love birds and rings so this was another 'had-to-have-it' purchase
Cream Stone Ring - Dorothy Perkins - £8.50
I love this style of ring and had been umming and ahhing for a while over this one.
Cream Stone Ring - H&M - £3.99?
I know this is pretty identical to the other one but the stone is bigger so definitely needed this one as well lol
Hello Kitty Headphones - Coloud - £33.99
I've wanted these for ages, took the plunge a few weeks ago and they are really good! They look pretty too :)

I bought a Kindle! from Tesco for £111 and I love it.

Well done if you've made it this far through the sea of materialism and if you would like reviews on anything hit me up in the comments below. Yep I'm a gangster now apparently.

Weekend Wishlist

This week I've been mostly lusting after nail varnish, Clinique and Burberry.

A girl can dream...

Short but sweet this week, I spent too much money yesterday and now can't think of anything that I want lol. Might do a haul type post with the stuff I got?

Play On.

For a long time I fell out with listening to music properly, I didn't need to listen to anything to make me feel better I was content with myself. I was happy and music has always been a cheering up mechanism for me so it kind of fell to the sidelines, obviously I still listened to stuff, what would life be without music? I didn't seek out anything new though I was quite happy to dance about to whatever was on the tv/radio/in the club.

But now I am home from uni I've lost a bit of that happiness and music has once again become an important part of my life, I find myself hunting around last.fm and spotify for bands that will sate my thirst for something new and interesting.

And that is what brings us to this post, on my quest for new bands I'd love it if you guys could recommend me some? I'm going to list a few of my all time favourites along with some new ones below and if anyone has got any ideas of stuff you think I'd like leave me a comment and let me know?

You should know that I rarely listen to the words in songs and I'm affected much more by the actual music so anything with a good beat I'll probably like.

David Bowie - Golden Years

Madness - Cardiac Arrest

Skindred - Pressure

Crystal Castles - Baptism

The XX - Basic Space

Good Shoes - Morden

Linchpin - Fear Factory

Well it appears the links aren't working now, typical! but if you have a google I'm sure you'll find YouTube links :)

Burberry Prorsum A/W 2011

I imagine I wasn't the only one that tuned into the Burberry livestream yesterday, especially as it was a trending topic on Twitter.

I was excited all afternoon, there's just something about watching a fashion show that excites me, seeing the new collection for the first time, the music and special effects and obviously seeing the models and how they've been styled in terms of makeup and hair. As this was the Burberry show I was extra excited as I've been a fan of their collections for a couple of years now, I think it's all the studded detail they use and the coats, always good coats at Burberry. Who hasn't lusted after a classic trench?

Back to the show, there was snow, Dusty Springfield, fur, colour, Dalmation print, more snow, Anna Wintour front row, hats, tartan/check, capes, bubble shaped sleeves, tweed, leather, flares, clutch bags, arran, belted waists. transparent plastic and the most amazing shoes.

To be quite honest it was the shoes that grabbed my attention most, I know I know, I just kept being drawn to the models feet. The shoes were a black wedge with buckle detailing, they don't sound too special but they really were. Ridiculously high but they really fitted the style of the clothing, giving a classic feel but the height making them edgy.

Some of the coats I loved from the show

I love the use of classic fabrics and the colour palette used for these coats, very English heritage. I especially like the burgandy tweed trousers contrasting with the rich dark fur in the last image, I adore those colours together, if there was a bit of dark forest green involved somewhere in the collection I might have squealed a little bit. Anyway, good colour choices, yes.

You can check out the collection here

Have you been following London Fashion Week? Which collections are you loving?

Hinspo doesn't really have the same ring to it as Finspo (see previous post) so we'll just go with hair inspiration. Tumblr is an excellent tool for storing  images and I've got quite a collection of hairstyles in my 'likes' so I thought I'd share them with you (lucky things!).

Lots of blonde hair in action there, I think braided styles look much better on blondes as you can see the detail more than in darker hair. Might have to give some of these do's a go if I get the time this week.

As these images are all from tumblr credit is an issue, I've tried to credit them as far back as possible but if any of these images belong to you let me know and I'll credit you/take them down :)

Weekend Wishlist

I'm glad this week is over! Last week of work before half-term is always the worst, the children are always really naughty and lazy making my job much harder. But now a lovely paid week off, don't mind if I do! Here's what I've been after this week:

Flutters and Fancies Satchel Bag - £37.99 - Cloth-Ears

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions 3-Step System - £30.64 - Boots

Naughty Alice Eau de Parfum - Vivienne Westwood - £37 - Debenhams
Armoured Ring - Topshop - £14
This reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange for some reason! Just something I can imagine her wearing...

Vicki McBootman - I miss her face. Flattering picture. She loves those polystyrene biscuits.

Product Rave: Elegant Touch - Vitamin E - Rapid Dry

I was wandering around Boots a few weeks ago (I'm always there it seems!) when I spotted this on the shelf amongst the nail stuff. It was the last can left so I popped it in my basket pronto, I only live in a small place so things rarely sell out (There is about 20 cans of Backcomb in a Bottle left on the shelf in the hair aisle for example), so I thought this must work for the shelf to be empty! Maybe that's a stupid theory but nevermind, I got the product.

It claims to dry nail polish in 60 seconds and has added Vitamin E to nourish cuticles. All you have to do is spray it over your nails from a distance of 10 cm and your nails will be touch dry within 60 seconds!

I was a bit sceptical as even my Sally Hansen Mega Shine Top Coat takes longer than that to dry my nails.

But it really works! I've just used it over my nail polish and it's fully dry about 5 minutes later! Life saver. It also makes your nails really glossy so I cheat and don't use a topcoat (don't shout at me!).

I would say that you need to be careful of the distance that you spray it from as if you spray it from a bit close it sometimes ruins the finish of your polish. Better to do it from quite far away to be careful.

Also it kind of leaves a watery residue on your nails which you need to wipe off pretty soon after they're dry as if it is left on it drys on and looks rubbish!

Another point to consider is the amount you spray, you only really need to go across your nails once and if you get a bit happy with the spraying your room fills up with the spray and looks a bit misty! It has a bit of a smell but nothing too bad, just like hairspray.

I would definitely recommend this product it is excellent, you can buy it from Boots for £3.57

My MAC Palette

As you can see it's not full yet, but I have a few shadows in mind for the spaces :)
Top Row: Vanilla, All That Glitters, Sketch, Club, Plumage
Middle Row: Brule, Woodwinked, Contrast
Bottom Row: Carbon

I also have Memorabilia in pot form which I'm going to depot and pop in underneath Sketch.

All That Glitters

I think Brule and Memorabilia are my favourites, I wear Brule everyday for work as it's pretty much the same shade as my skin and Memorabilia is amazingly pigmented for a matte shade, I like to wear it all over the lid with a charcoal grey in the crease for a smoky look.

I adore Contrast for a smoky eye too, navy is much more flattering on me than black is and it has tiny shimmery bits which make it stunning over a black base.

If you have any requests to see these in action on my eyes please let me know, I don't play with them enough!

Hope you're all having a nice day :)
