Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

Lush Sale Haul!

After spending 3 days (& 3 browsers!) trying to get on the Lush website to order some goodies from the sale I decided I might as well just go to the shop and have a look in ‘real life’. I’m glad I did as my store was packed with loads of bargains and not just on the Christmas stuff, a lot of the normal gifts were 50% off too! Got a few birthday pressies for next to nothing, win. Here is what I picked up, if you would like anything reviewed let me know, although it might be a bit pointless considering most of what I picked up was limited edition!

xmas 021

Biggest Lush bag of life! This was not particularly useful in other shops as I kept hitting people (accidentally) with it!

xmas 025

These are the things that I got for me, I also picked up a Strawberry Picnic gift set and a Brrrrilliant gift set for some friends.

Here are some close ups of the items and the little description that Lush gives:

xmas 026

Melting Snowman Bath Melt

Exquisitely fragranced with a blend of oils containing vanilla absolute and sweet wild orange, giving him a deep marzipan fragrance with notes of rich fruit, reminiscent of Christmas cake and figgy puddings. Which means he smells exactly the same as our bestselling Snowcake soap.

But if it isn’t enough to smell of our most popular Christmas fragrance,  he’s also got a body made of water-softening bicarb of soda, cocoa butter and shea butter. This means that when the heat gets to him and he finally melts away, he fizzes those wonderful butters through your bathwater, leaving you soft and moisturised.

xmas 029

Snowglobe Soap

The Snow Globe is sure to be a favourite when winter comes. The whole cake looks a beautifully serene snow globe with dots of white 'snow' throughout. It's a loving nod to a more traditional Christmas this year. Although this is a refreshing citrus soap, it has a different blend of sharper citrus oils to give you an invigorating wash morning or night. We've used organic lemon myrtle for a fresh, slightly herbal citrus note, and lemongrass to complement the fragrance.

This is my all time favourite soap from Lush!

xmas 030

Satsumo Santa

This is a fusion of the British tradition of an orange in the bottom of your Christmas stocking, and the Japanese tradition of splitting a yuzu orange and putting it in your bathwater at Winter Solstice.

Together they make Satsumo Santa, a fat little fella full of mandarin oil, bergamot oil and orange flower absolute.

He’s bursting to the brim with a beautiful orange fragrance which, when unleashed in the water, will fill your bathroom with the sweet smell of summer.

xmas 031

Candy Mountain

Every year we give our best selling Creamy Candy Bar bubble bar a special outfit for Xmas.  Last year it was in the shape of a cane, this year we’ve turned it into a little swirly mountain peak.

But whatever the shape and look, the thing that never changes is that lovely vanilla and candy floss smell and the mountains of soft bubbles.

When the busy season has exhausted you, the hoards of shoppers have pushed and shoved you, and you think you can’t take any more - lie back in a Candy Mountain bath and feel its sweet and comforting hug.

Snow Fairy Lip Tint

A yummy lip balm and tint for magical pink tinged lips.

xmas 042

Our big ,shy snow monster ballistic, with a scent of peppermint oil, vanilla absolute and orange oil.

Abombinaball snowmen are rare and exotic ballistics. They don’t hang around for long, so snap one up whilst you can.

Our little icy friend will come out to play any time you choose to have a bath.

He’ll erupt in your bathwater first in a burst of golden yellow that leaves your bathwater an electric green.  He then evades capture as he goes around your bath fizzing and giving off puffs of fine white foam.  Just when you think you’ve worked out what he is and where he’s coming from, he suddenly lets off jets of blue slipstream and makes haste across your bath, suddenly disappearing from wherever it was he came.  Leaving you soaking in a delicately scented, alpine green bath and wishing and hoping that you get to see him again one day soon.

xmas 047

Golden Wonder

This ballistic is like a pass the parcel gift – each layer has something different to offer. This is not for a quick bath because it takes its time, this ballistic, its wonders to unfold.

First take some time to shake it, listen to the little rattle from within and try to imagine what’s in there. Then drop it in your water and gaze in wonderment as gold turns to yellow, turns to blue and spits out soluble stars along the way.

There we have it! All the goodies that I picked up in the 50% off sale, I got all that lot and the two gifts for just £23! Get yourself down to Lush and pick up a bargain – the sale is running until the 3rd of January I think.

Are you a Lush fan?

Happy Christmas!

Hope that you've all had a really good day! Despite my plans changing at the last minute and my dog passing away I have had a great time - I got some amazing gifts and I got to spend most of the day with my baby sister Gracie. Love her!

Thought that I'd share my Christmas make up with you all and also Gracie's outfit of the day!

The outer 'v' is actually a navy colour (had to take the pics in lowlight with flash!)
The inner corner is Urban Decay's Maui Wowie (Love this shadow!)

And here is Gracie's outfit:

She is so bloomin' cute!

Hope you all had a great day!

Festive Nails (Guest Starring My Nan!)

Thought I'd show you my nails for Christmas, I painted them last night and i'm hoping they'll last til NYE as I love the way they look!

OPI Rainbow Connection over H&M Envy Me (A dark green)

And here are my Nan's nails!

Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle over OPI DS Extravagance
She only wanted a subtle sparkle!

How have you painted your nails for Christmas?

Urban Outfitters Sale

I got an email earlier telling me that the Urban Outfitters sale had begun online with lots of products being 50% off! I love UO but hate the prices - things are ridiculously overpriced in there! I have listed my favourite things from the sale section - will definitely be purchasing those Doc Martens as they're never on sale and they're purple!

Cavalli Inspired Smoky Eye Tutorial

I'm glad that you all liked my make up in yesterday's post, a few of you asked for a tutorial of how I did it so I tried to explain it as best I could below! I forgot to take photos of the process but hopefully you'll be able to follow it!

And here is a reminder of the finished look:

Hope that this was helpful :)

What do you think? Have you got your New Year’s Eve make up planned yet?

Face of the Day

I love this make up! I wore it on Saturday and got lots of compliments on it. In real life the shadows were glittery but I couldn’t get this to photograph! I love the two shades together and the pink brings the green in my eyes out – always a winner.
The pale pink I have on the inner third of my eye is one of the Bourjois Intense eye shadows, I think it’s shade 3.
In the outer corner blended out I have a Bourjois Effet Smoky Pencil in Sparkling Navy which looks more grey when it is blended.
On my lashes I have Bourjois Elastic mascara in black.

I will be posting reviews on all the products used in the new year.

Sunday Sounds #2

Week two of Sunday Sounds and this week I thought I’d share some of my most favourite Christmas songs! How is it possible that it’s Christmas day next Sunday?! I haven’t even finished shopping yet!

Lonely This Christmas – Mud

This is my most favourite Christmas song ever, and the reason for this is the video. It’s so 70s and the guy playing guitar on the floor makes me laugh every time I see it, he’s half naked and swaying! Also what is that earring??

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day – Wizzard

Again, a super 70s video that makes me lol every time I see it. Such cute children too!

Stop the Cavalry – Jona Lewie

I love this one because of the tune lol, and Jona Lewie is a bit of a legend in my eyes!

What are your favourite Christmas songs?

P.S. I also have a bonus song this week! Alex Day of YouTube fame has released a song called Forever Yours and wants to get it to Christmas Number 1 in the UK this year. All the money that is made from the song is going to charity so it’s for a really good cause! It only costs 79p from iTunes and I urge you all to go buy it! There are 11 versions to pick from too! This is my favourite one:

The Piano Version (Buy it here!)

Hello Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon's for £45!

I have lusted after a pair of Lady Dragon's for years but could never justify spending £120 on a pair of shoes that will probably kill my feet and end up living on my bookshelf for the rest of time. But for £45? Hell to the yeah!

At ASOS these are currently £65 in the sale but Grazia have given us a lovely discount code to get 30% off! Making them only £45ish!

GO! GO! GO! (But save a pair for me please!)

Discount code is: ASOSGRAZIA30

Christmas Wishlist

Thought that I would show you all the things that I would like for Christmas this year!

Well there seems to be a bit of a purple theme to my wishlist doesn’t there?

1. Forest green fedora from Topshop – I love me a bit of forest green, I also love hats. Perfect present. I think it’d look nice against my red hair too.

2. Black Vans – I have wanted some black Vans for time but don’t want to pay the £40 that they cost!

3. Babyliss Big Hair – Who doesn’t want this?? It has been all over the blogosphere of late and I want a piece of the voluminous hair pie!

4. Diesel Loverdose perfume – The nicest smelling perfume that I have smelled in a long long time.

5. Floral cushion cover – Love this, I think that it would look lovely on my bed :)

6. Colours Print – I am craving new art work for my room at the moment, I love the sentiment behind this piece too.

7. Nars Arabian Nights Trio – Arghhh! Look at it! It’s beautiful! I need those shimmery glittery rich colours all over my eyes. please.

8. Stargazer hair dye in Plume – I always used to dye my hair with this back in the day and I miss having purple hair, perhaps I will return it in the new year?

What have you asked Father Christmas for?

Sunday Sounds #1

Thought I'd start a snazzy new feature this weekend (although it is no longer Sunday when I'm posting this! Never mind) to show you the songs I've been loving throughout the week :)

Gracie is now 2 months old! She is getting so big nowadays and is so cute! She sleeps a lot though and doesn't like having her picture taken!

Hope you have a good weekend guys :)

Lush Pow Wow Lip Scrub

Lush Pow Wow Lip Scrub
Lush Pow Wow Lip Scrub 2
Price: £4.75* for 20g

First things first, you need to go to Lush and smell this product. It is quite possibly the nicest smelling thing that my nose has ever sniffed. It smells just like Lime Starburst (it was Helen that pointed this out!) though my nan thinks it smells like Chocolate Limes. Basically it smells like lime sweets. What more could you want from a lip scrub??

I have been a fan of Lush Lip Scrubs for a while now and this has just made it to the top of the Lip Scrub hierarchy. This is for a number of reasons:
1. The smell.
2. It has popping candy in.
3. You can eat it.
4. It makes your lips lovely and smooth and
5. It’s bright green.

Pow Wow is packed full of beneficial ingredients too, it has Argan oil, jojoba oil and rosehip oil to soften and soothe dry, sore lips. There is ginseng root powder and caffeine powder to fill you with energy and there is also goji berry powder to add a bit of nutritional value too! The main ingredient is the popping candy though – such a good idea! It is this that really lifts the product and makes it perfect for this time of year.

To use Lush’s lip scrubs I like to apply a layer of Vaseline to my lips first (to protect them a little) and then smear a finger full of scrub all over my lips making sure to massage it in well and properly exfoliate them. Then I just lick it off! This is the fun bit!

The only problem that I have with the product is that it’s a little bit liquidy? I’m not sure if they’re all like this or if it’s just my one. But you can see from the image that there is a lot of liquid in the pot and this does not make it easy to apply. I think I’ll try and pour the excess oils out so that the scrub works better!

Have you tried Lush’s Lip Scrubs?

*I received this in my goody bag from the London Christmas Blogger Meet so I did not pay for it.

Review: Lush Skullduggery Bath Ballistic

Price: £2.75
This is a limited edition product from Lush that was released as a part of their Halloween collection, it is still available in stores and online but it won’t be for much longer!
It has been designed to look like a Mexican day of the dead sugar skull with it’s intricate carved details and heart shaped sequin eyes. It is a very citrusy scent, it’s ingredients include lime, neroli and olibanum (a relative of Frankincense), and it smells lovely to me. I’m a fan of citrus bath products as they perk you up a bit and make you feel a bit more energised, lime oil is also great for congested skin and cellulite! Bonus! Neroli oil is also thought to help the production of Serotonin (the happy hormone!) in the brain, so popping Skullduggery in your bath promises to be an almost life-changing experience! Well mood-altering anyways. The Olibanum is also great for dry skin which I’m sure we all have at this time of year, another perk for Skullduggery there!
Skullduggery is the younger sibling of last year’s Calavera bath bomb, which I loved, and therefore it is scented similarly. I remember Calavera being one of Lush’s more exciting products as it had lots of different colours inside of it that made the bath tub look like a fiesta. I loved that aspect and I’m not sure why they chose to leave it out of this product. It was this that disappointed me about Skullduggery, where were the fireworks? When I think about Day of the Dead celebrations I think of colour, brightly decorated skulls and parties. Skullduggery just fizzed away leaving a white-ish trail behind him. Boring. It took a long time to dissolve completely which is good as the scent does last a little longer but once completely dissolved I found it hard to smell the lovely citrusy fragrance that was there before.
Overall, I would not repurchase this as it was a disappointment for me, hopefully next year we’ll have Calavera Mach 3 which includes the lovely scent, the cute skull shape and the bright colours inside of it!

Have you tried Skullduggery? What did you think?
Are you a fan of Lush’s more exciting products or do you just buy for the scent/skin benefits alone?

Festive Face #1

MAC Eye Shadows: Contrast|Woodwinked|Nocturnelle
Collection 2000 Glam Rocks in (black and gold!?)
In retrospect I’m not sure that I actually like this look, in theory it should work but I’m not sure that it does. I love navy and gold together but I think that Woodwinked was the wrong gold for the job in this case, I think that it’s a little bit too orange toned, something cooler might have worked better. Que sera sera. I added the glitter liner for a bit of pizazz!
