LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

Catastrophe Cosmetic - £5.75 for 75g

Catastrophe Cosmetic is one of Lush’s fresh face masks and it is perfect for oily/acne prone skin that is also a bit sensitive. It has Irish moss gel to soften the skin, Almond Oil to moisturise, fresh blueberries to detoxify, rose absolute and chamomile to reduce irritation and redness, and calamine and talc to deep clean and soothe the skin.

The mask is meant to be used quite regularly to deep cleanse the skin and keep those spots at bay. I find using it 3 or 4 times a week will sort out any break outs and prevent any new ones occurring!

When you first apply the mask you look like Violet Beauregarde but your skin feels instantly cool, I like this feeling – it feels like the mask is doing something. I apply the mask all over my face avoiding the eyes and mouth but I normally apply a bit more on any active breakouts. The mask sets in around 5 minutes and I leave it on for about 10 (if you leave it on too long it starts crumbling off and you have bits of blueberry all over the house). The mask is soothing on any spots and seems to dry them up a little whilst the mask is on.

To remove the mask I use warm (normally burning hot actually but probably best not to recommend that) water and a muslin cloth, you have to make sure you remove it properly or your face has a slight blue tinge!

After I’ve washed the mask off my face feels non-oily, almost like I’ve powdered and my skin feels smooth. My skin tone looks even and any redness has been reduced.

I will definitely repurchase this again, I think I’m on my 3rd or 4th tub and it still works wonders for me.
