Charity Shopping–A Book Haul

I am a charity shop fiend. Especially in the book department, I can’t help but have a little look along the book shelves to see what they’ve got to offer. I’ve always bought my books from charity shops (the only exception is the Harry Potter books which I always bought on release day) as they’re so much cheaper and often have more interesting covers and such. I prefer to buy my books from the more independent charity shops though as I do find that the ‘big-brand’ charity shops (think Oxfam…) tend to overprice their books – sometimes even more than on Amazon! And I know that the money is going to charity but not all of it is and to be honest I wouldn’t pay £4 for a book from a charity shop! These little beauties cost me 15p each and I love them, I love the art work on them and I’ve been meaning to start a Beatrix Potter collection for a long time – I used to have all of the books when I was younger but they’ve been lost in the various house moves I’ve done. I think all of the books above are from the 70s, the Enid Blyton ones definitely are but the others don’t have any dates in them. I haven’t read them yet, but they sure do look pretty sat on my book shelf, said book shelf is rather full at the moment – might have to buy another one soon!

Any other charity shop book fiends?

  2. 15p! Oh my gosh they are adorable. One of my great pleasures is browsing in charity shop book sections, you find things you'd never find in regular book shops. Reading children's books is something I love doing, so soothing and comforting :)

  3. I read all of the Malory Towers, The Twins at St Claire's and The Naughtiest Girl in the School books by Enid Blyton when I was younger! I love them all.

  4. Nice little book haul! I like buying books from charity shops too. Great way to get new reading material without breaking the bank.

I used to adore Malory Towers when I was younger- all my copies are very similar to those, and just as well worn!

  10. That's a lovely book haul. I love old books - even just sitting on the shelf they look NICE and loved and well read. And no matter if the book is new or old, they smell amazing. I was looking at kiddies books in a small charity shop today but never got anything because the wee man started to gurn for a bottle., but I agree, sometimes the covers look so much nicer! Xo
