Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

Japonesque Custom Lip Palette Kit

When this arrived on my doorstep I was so excited! It’s like arts and crafts for beauty bloggers! It’s a little kit for depotting your lipsticks, a lifesaver for when you’ve only got a little bit of lippie left in the tube or if you’ve accidentally left one in the sun and it’s gone all smooshy (technical term). My nan, however, was not such a fan of my new toy as I proceeded to melt neon pink lipstick all over the kitchen…

To pop your own shades in the palette you need to chop a little bit of your lipstick off (or scrape it out of the bottom of the tube if you’re using an empty one) and pop it in the little rubber bowl that comes in the kit. Then put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds (no longer than 1 minute) so that the lipstick can melt. Take the pot out of the microwave, being very careful as it does get hot, and give it a stir with the little spoon to make sure it’s all melted nicely. You then need to pour the melted lipstick into the slots of the palette – this does take some practise as you can see from the image below but once you get the hang of it you’ll be fine. You need to do this quickly though as the lipstick solidifies within a minute or so and then you don’t get a nice even finish to the palette, you can also see this with the orangey/coral shade below.

You can also use the palette to create custom lipstick shades by melting a couple of lipsticks together in the bowl and then mixing them together, I’ve not tried this yet but when I do I will show you the results!

I’m still in the process of filling my palette but once it’s full I think I’ll be keeping it in my bag with me, I hope to fill it with my must-have lipstick shades so that I can just pop one on if I ever need to glam up my make-up. You get a little lip brush which is quite firm so great for applying lipstick with and the mirror in the palette is a really decent size.
