Sorry for the picture overload but I just couldn’t not include all of the pictures I took! Yesterday I went to London Zoo with my friend Wahida, we’d been planning to go to the zoo for months and we finally did it – yay! It cost £11.50 each to get in as we had a 2 for 1 voucher (sign up here for loads of vouchers if you travel by train) which I thought was quite a good price, don’t think I would have paid the full £23 though. We walked along to the zoo from Camden and it was about a 20 minute walk, I’m a slow walker though so if you’re speedy you’ll get there even quicker. You could even get the 274 bus that stops right outside the zoo – had we known this prior to the walk we would have been getting said bus. The zoo is situated in the corner of Regent’s Park which is a lovely park if you have time to wander around after your visit; once you’re inside the zoo you totally forget that you’re in central London, it’s so peaceful and relaxed.

I love going to the zoo, it’s one of my most favourite activities. When I lived in Preston I frequently visited Blackpool Zoo and even though I’d seen all the animals before it was always a lovely day out. I think it just makes you feel like a little kid again; having a bit of an adventure and going to learn new things. The selection of animals at London Zoo is exhaustive there were loads of different zones within the zoo, even an aquarium, which makes it quite a nice walk around with little pit stops between the different areas. I was quite disappointed that there were no elephants though as they live in the other ZSL zoo in Bedfordshire, they’re always nice to see. There weren’t very many baby animals either and they’re always my favourites, but I guess it’s not really baby season is it?

If you’ve got children the zoo is very well equipped for them too with lots of play areas and interesting things for them to interact with, there’s also lots of toilets and food/drink outlets dotted around and the paths were pretty even for pushing prams around on.

Overall I had a lovely day out and would really recommend the zoo if you’re ever at a loss of something to do in London.

Have you ever visited London Zoo? What did you think?

Anyone else a fan of the zoo?

  3. I do love the zoo, although I haven't been to one in a while. My favourite is the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay, it's so peaceful.

  4. I've only been to London Zoo once, but that was a while ago. My favourite zoo is the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, quite a lot of the animals roam free so it's quite a refreshign change to most! I have a few pictures on my Flickr - www.flickr.com/photos/amyvintis xx

  5. I haven't been to the zoo in ages. Which considering I live 20 minutes from Edinburgh Zoo and they have pandas is a total crime. I've never been to London zoo but your photos are lovely x

  6. It's great that you had a voucher, while it's a decent zoo it's rather expensive to get in! My favourite zoo I guess is Chicago because it's free and they have some great animals or Toledo Zoo in Ohio were they had the cutest baby elephant.
