A couple of weeks ago I shared my daytime skincare routine with you and I promised an update on my evening routine too, so here we go! I think I’ve mentioned a couple of these products before but I will do a mini review of each one as I did with my daytime routine. I think it’s the night time part of my skincare routine that has made all the difference to how my skin has been behaving lately, it encourages me to take off my make-up every day and that makes it a success in my mind.
I use this cleansing balm to remove the day’s make-up. I start by removing my eye make-up with it, I normally put about a finger tip’s worth of the balm into my palm and warm it up before applying to my eyes in a circular motion. Once all of my eye make-up has been melted away I use a similar amount of product to remove the rest of my make-up. I then use the Emma Hardie Professional Cleansing Cloth (these are amazing!) to remove the product from my skin – I run the cloth under warm water and then use it all over my face – I use the soft side first then the muslin side to exfoliate my chin, nose and cheeks. The balm smells really nice and lemony and I’ve never experienced any irritation due to this, it removes all of my make-up really well and my face feels fresh and clean after use. It’s pricey, but I would definitely repurchase this as it makes removing my make-up simple and quite enjoyable (is that weird?!).
I’ve been using this serum almost every night for the past month or so and I think it really has helped to clear my skin up, I normally get terrible hormonal spots at that time of the month but since using this I don’t think I’ve even broken out once! It has the same scent as the other Elemis Fresh Skin products which makes me love it even more. I apply one pump of the serum all over my face and it sinks in almost immediately – it doesn’t leave the face feeling tight or sticky either.
In the colder months my oily/combination skin becomes really dehydrated and to combat that I’ve been using this moisturiser. The Ultra Gentle Moisturiser is made with 8% Shea Butter to leave skin feeling nourished and smooth (it also protects the skin against the harsh cold air!). I like to use this just before bed as I find it does need a little while to sink in fully but when I wake up in the morning my skin feels lovely and soft and not nearly as dehydrated. I find the moisturiser is also great on sensitive skin and when I have a break out this is perfect for soothing any redness and irritation. Definitely worth the money, I’ve had this bottle for almost a year now and it’s still going strong as you only need to use a tiny amount.
And that, my friends, is my evening skincare routine. I try not to overcomplicate it too much as I know I’ll just forget steps anyway, occasionally I’ll use a toner (The Body Shop Vitamin E Spritz) but not every day so I didn’t include it. Hope this post has given you some ideas if you’re looking to refresh your skincare routine.
The final part of my routine, the extras – face masks, spot treatments and exfoliants will be up next week so check back then!
