Hello… It’s been a little while since I sat and wrote a blog post and it feels good to be back in the saddle… I’ve had a month off of blogging for the first time in two and a half years and it was exactly what I needed.
I’ve had time to evaluate what I like and dislike about blogging and what I want my blog to be, I think that in the last year or so blogs have become so commercialised and I’m not sure that’s what I want Paperbacks & Postcards to be about. Yes, it’s exciting to get emails from PR companies about the latest products and of course it’s always amazing to be invited to snazzy events down in London but is that why we started our blogs in the first place? I know I didn’t. I started this blog because I love writing and I missed doing it regularly when I graduated from university. I spent a few hours the other day reading through old blog posts and I was a bit disappointed in myself to be honest – when I first started blogging every single blog post was well thought out and researched and I spent time making sure that it was interesting to read, I made sure that I interacted with my readers and I immersed myself in the blogging community. When I look at my more recent posts I don’t see that, I see a slew of gifted items and sponsored content with posts name-dropping products all over the shop – I wasn’t proud of my little blog any more.
So, I’m back and I’m going to make myself feel proud of myself again. I’m going to blog about things which I find interesting and I’m going to try to make Paperbacks & Postcards a nice place to be again. I hope you’re on board with me, if not, thank you for the support over the last couple of years – I wish you well.
P.S. How do we like the new blog design? I’ve still got a few tweaks to make but I love it.
P.P.S. Do you have any post requests? I’ve got a week off work and I’d love to spend that time blogging.
