Dream Home: Living Room

dream-home-living-room
Today brings a new series for Paperbacks & Postcards, Dream Home. Over the next few weeks I will be bringing you my dream home inspiration, room by room. I really love home furnishings and decorating so I thought I’d share my plans with you, I also have been pinning more homey type things over on Pinterest recently if you fancy checking that out.
Today is the turn of the Living Room, the centre of the home for me, a place for both relaxation and entertainment. I’m loving a more modern bright look lately, I’m kind of over the whole shabby chic look in the lounge, that should be reserved for the bedroom I think. I love clashing colours and prints, mixing new styles with old and generally creating a mish-mash of cool. I prefer to choose quite plain furniture with bold shapes and colours and then adding pattern and texture with the accessories, then you can just change these to fit in with current trends and your tastes. The Egg Chair is amazing isn’t it? I love the shape of it and I imagine that it’s super comfy to relax in after a long day at work; paired with the curved white sofa I think they would create a great foundation for a living room. The locker cabinet would be perfect as a TV cabinet with extra storage for all those ugly wires and things underneath, the console table could double up as a little blogging desk too with the right chair. The striped rug is something I’ve always wanted in my home, a large bright centrepiece to pull all the colours in the room together – this one isn’t badly priced either! The retro wall clock is another favourite of mine, I love the bold lines and the rounded square shape.
Do you have your dream home in mind?
Am I the only one that seems to spend more time looking at furniture than make-up nowadays?

  1. I love that owl pillow. I try not to plan decor too much as I know I won't be able to afford moving out when I go to uni :/ x

  2. I'm not going to lie, while the owl cushion looks cool it would creep me the hell out - imaging going into your living room in the dark and seeing that? Haha, I'd shit myself! Looking forward to more in the series, I love home posts! Xo

  3. The sofa sure looks exquisite but for some reason I can't quite see the owl cushion being complimentary...you'd obviously disagree right?
