Friday’s Face #3

Third time’s a charm, this is the makeup that I wore yesterday for popping to the shops and seeing le boyfriend. I’m really loving doing these FOTD type posts again as it encourages me to use my makeup collection and branch out a bit from using the same old products. I bought this Chanel Lipstick last year and I’ve probably worn it about 3 times since then, it’s such a gorgeous colour that I had to start using it again, a lovely red with pink undertones. It has really great staying power too, I applied this around 1pm and it was still there at 5 without any touch ups and I’d been eating too. The foundation I’m wearing is Estee Lauder Doublewear again, although it’s looking a bit cakey here – really need to buy a pump for it so I don’t pour out too much. The mascara I’m wearing is Clinique High Impact and I’m loving it – it’s fast become my favourite mascara, I only have a little trial size at the moment but I will be repurchasing when I run out.

Life: Seaside Holiday in Blackpool

At the start of August me and my boyfriend went on our first holiday together, just a little break to the North West of England with stops in Bolton, Manchester, Preston and Blackpool. I went to university in Preston and I loved living up north, so I thought it was about time I introduced Jamie to it. My favourite part of our little holiday was the time we spent in Blackpool, I love Blackpool it’s got everything a British seaside destination should have. Yes, it’s a bit tacky and it’s full of undesirables but it just has a bit of old school charm that captured my heart on my first visit. I used to pop to Blackpool all the time when I lived in Preston as it’s only a short train ride away, and I really miss it now that I live in the middle of nowhere again.

We had some lovely weather while we were there, it was sunny the whole time! This meant that we spent a lot of time walking up and down the beaches. We even had a little paddle in the sea, which wasn’t the nicest colour but was refreshing on tired feet. We went on adventures up and down the piers, trying to dodge the gaps in the wooden planks and spending too many pennies in the arcades trying to win my baby sister a teddy. It was so nice to just be carefree and enjoy being together whilst having lots of fun. Our hotel was a bit rubbish to be fair but we didn’t really spend much time there so it was fine, think it only cost us about £50 for 3 nights too!

Pay Day Wishlist: August 2013

I’m not sure how it’s almost the end of August already but at least that means it’s nearly Pay Day, I get paid on Friday and I haven’t done too badly this month – I still actually have money in my bank. This is a first. This month I’ve been trying to sort my skincare out and get rid of anything that doesn’t suit me, I’m planning on going back to basics in September and working on a routine that is easy to follow and effective. I go back to work this tim3e next week and after six glorious weeks off it’s going to be tough, I really need to buy some new work shoes and boots for the new term – comfy shoes are a must for chasing naughty students around the school! Everyone needs a new school bag for September too, don’t they? I’m still working on buying things ready for moving out with the boy next year and my Pinterest boards are full of homeware at the moment.
Here’s what I’ve chosen to buy this month:

Nails: Mint Nail Art

This week on my nails I thought I’d try out a little bit of nail art, I’ve been browsing Pinterest a lot lately and I always admire everyone’s skills with the nail polish. For a beginner I don’t feel like I’ve done too badly, although I didn’t try anything too extravagant. The base I used was OPI Mermaid’s Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection a couple of years ago, it’s my favourite mint green polish as it is quite muted and more green than blue. The white stripes and spots were applied with the Barry M Nail Art Pen which I’m loving at the moment. The teal details are also Barry M but the Gelly Hi-Shine in Watermelon, which I bought ages ago and haven’t used much. The glitter polish I used is the amazing Nail Junkie by Sinful Colours which I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. The little hearts are actually nail tattoos by Skin Art and I received them in a goody bag last year, haven’t really experimented with them before but they were super easy to use.

OPI-NOTW-Nail-Polish-Nail-Art Nail-Art-NOTW-OPI Base: OPI Mermaid’s Tears - £12.50

White details: Barry M Nail Art Pen – White - £4.99

Teal details: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine – Watermelon - £3.99

Glitter: Sinful Colors – Nail Junkie - £1.99

Hearts: Nail Tattoos – Skin Art - £5.99*

What do you think?
