Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

Favourites: August

Well it’s September again, time to go back to work after six glorious weeks off. I’ve had a great summer this year, two holidays and lots of time spent with family and friends. I also spent quite a lot of time shopping and trying out new products. Anyway time for my August Favourites, this month I’ve been loving some different products which is a bit exciting – normally my favourites are all the same products!

August Favourites 033

Origins Spot Remover - £14

I’d forgotten all about this little gem but I found it hidden in the bottom of one of my bags and kept it somewhere safe for the inevitable hormonal breakout of the month. My spots were awful this month, my whole chin was covered in those big sore under the skin ones which you can’t really do anything about. This product did help to clear them up though, I was slathering it on every couple of hours which left me with a very sticky chin but I was willing to put up with that. I’ve had this little bottle for ages too and I’ve got over half left which is great considering it’s quite pricey.

August Favourites 038

Clinique High Impact Mascara – Black - £16.50

A different mascara has been clinging to my lashes this month, Clinique High Impact is an oldy but a goody. This little sample came free with Glamour last year some time and I stockpiled quite a few of them. It really adds length to my lashes which are naturally quite short and sparse, it makes them look thicker and fuller too. I really like the brush of this mascara as its not plastic and it really coats the lashes easily – the gaps between each bristle are quite big too which allows it to catch every lash whilst separating them at the same time. I also love this on my bottom lashes. Definitely going to buy this when I run out of samples.

August Favourites 039

Pukka Radiance Serum - £24

I received this sample in my BeautecoBox a couple of months ago and I didn’t really pay it any attention until I was researching radiance boosting products for my A/W Beauty Series. I started using this every morning before my moisturiser and makeup and it made such a difference to my skin, it instantly perked up a bit and had a subtle sheen to it that made my skin look a bit more healthy. It smells good too. Definitely one to try if you’re after a bit of radiance.

August Favourites 040

Maybelline Baby Lips – Cherry Me - £2.99

Ahh the ubiquitous Baby Lips, it’s a lip balm. I was going to say that it’s a glorified lip balm but it really isn’t, it’s just a lip balm with a hint of colour. It does smell amazing though, like the cherry scented things of my childhood. I’ve been applying this like it’s going out of fashion, it’s so easy to just whack on and away you go. I will repurchase this when I run out.

August Favourites 043

Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer - £21

I mentioned this in last months favourites too and I’m still loving it. It’s a great base for concealer and really hydrates and primes the under eye region. You only need a tiny bit of this too so this sample size will last me quite a while – bonus.

August Favourites 044

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray - £7.50

I’ve loved the Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray for a long time now, I got a travel set of the Thickening range last year and really loved all the products. This hairspray is something special though, I don’t attempt a blowdry without it. When used on damp hair before blow drying it really adds some extra volume without making your hair crispy or sticky. I’ve never used it as a traditional hairspray for sealing in styles but I’m not sure how it would work as it’s quite liquidy and doesn’t really have a fine mist or anything. I have and will continue to repurchase this product.

What were your favourite products in August?

  1. I had a sample of that mascara too and I really liked it. Don't think I'd pay full price though.

    Water Painted Dreams

    1. It is pricey! I've not found a high street mascara that I really love though so I think I'm going to have to buy this one! xx

  2. I think I will try out the origins spot remover!
I never heard of this product before so this review was very useful!
