We all know how much I love a red lip don’t we? I have a huge collection of red lipsticks and Christmas time is the perfect time to get them out and make the most of them. I’ve picked my five favourite red lipsticks to help you find the perfect one for you. I haven’t included lip swatches as it’s too dark at the moment, but let me know in the comments below if you want to see any of them in action.
All of the shades are quite true blue-toned reds with the exception of Red Velvet which leans a bit deeper in tone, you can’t beat a blue based red though as it makes your teeth look whiter. My favourite formula of lipstick is matte, and Ruby Woo and Sangers have that base covered – Sangers is a little bit more wearable though. Hazard is more of a satin finish which I like and can be blotted to appear matte too, it has great staying power too. Paris is my little bit of luxury, it’s quite a bright red with a bit of a sheen but not too much – it wears beautifully and has a nice scent too. The lip butter is great for every day, it’s quite pigmented but the sheer formula makes it wearable.
My favourite of all my choices has to be Ruby Woo, I’ve loved it since I very first laid eyes on it – the retro matte formula is divine and the colour is so vibrant. It’s the perfect lipstick for vintage pin-up style make-up too.
