Money: Spending Ban Week 2

Spending-Ban

This week was my first full week on the spending ban and to be honest I could have done better.

For me, I tend to spend quite a lot of money on impulse purchases throughout the week, especially on the way home from work. I didn’t spend any money on make-up or beauty items this week but I did buy some necessities that I had run out of. I spent £11 in Boots on hair dye, foot cream and cleanser – not too bad. I then bought a cardigan, some shoes and some leggings from Primark for £22. I also bought a Tshirt from the gig I went to last night, that cost £15 and I bought 3 drinks for £19.50 (oh my!). I bought a Moleskine diary for work too, I think it was £9.25 from Waterstones in the half price sale.

So, this week I have spent £76.75 on things that weren’t completely necessary. Must try better next week.

I have set a budget of £50 for the coming week and out of that I need to buy a weekly bus ticket and some food for my lunches at work. Wish me luck!

Do you tend to buy things without thinking?

  1. I have a 2 hour commute home and I'm always hungry. I could easily wait till I get home but I nearly always cave and buy crisps. Plus crisps for Gary. Which we worked out to be £10 a week! So now I take an apple and try my best to be good. It is hard though! Good luck with your budget this week - maybe make a pot of soup and freeze in portions so it lasts the week? :) xo

    1. Thanks for the suggestions :) I have been taking a cereal bar to work for the journey home and making sure that I fill my water bottle before I leave - this means I don't have to pop to the shops! xx

  2. I'm so hopeless if I have any actual money in my purse- it's gone almost straightaway. I really ought to impose a stricter ban on my spending.

    1. I experience a similar phenomenon! I'm better having an empty purse and no cards, can do no spending at all then! xx
