Money: Spending Ban Week 4

From my bank statement:

  • £11 in Tesco – I bought a magazine and some snacks
  • £20 out of bank – To pay for Nandos
  • £24 in Morrisons – A weekly shop to get food for dinners in the week
  • £20 out of bank – Spent on the bus to my Mum’s house, lunch with her and Gracie and some groceries

This week I’ve been off work, this means I’ve saved money on my bus fare and on snacks after work. I have tried to stick to the rules this week, I’ve not spent any money on any make-up or beauty items and I’ve not bought any new clothes. I did buy a magazine though which cost £5. I have spent a little bit on buses this week but not as much as if I’d been at work so I’m happy about that. I’ve managed to spend around £50 on food and snacks though which is a little bit ridiculous, I did do a proper food shop in Morrisons and got food for my meals this week and next. Around £15 was spent on Nandos too, it’s a little treat when me and the boy go there and I don’t regret a penny of it. I have a problem with having cash in my purse, if I get money out of the bank and it’s in my purse I will spend it, I need to do a bit more planning in advance I think so I don’t just spend it all on sweets.

Thank you all for the support and advice in the comments too, you are all very helpful. This week when I’m back at work I’m going to leave my purse at home to try to curb my spending after work. It’s pay day on Friday and I’m going to try and be sensible with my wages and keep track of how much I am spending – we’ll see how long that lasts.

Does anyone have any tips on saving money on groceries?

  1. Wish my food shop was £24!
I get my shopping from Asda. I get it delivered since I don't drive and a £15 3 month delivery pass is way cheaper than £6 a week on taxis!
The Asda price guarantee is good too - I'm trying to build my vouchers up so I can save a big amount on a more expensive shop. :)

Good luck with your spending next week! Xo
