Nails: Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel Manicure

I’ve been interested in gel manicures for a little while now but I don’t think I could commit to one colour being on my nails for over a week, so I’ve never had one done. When I saw this product I was intrigued, a gel manicure you can do yourself without a UV lamp. I had to give it a go.

The Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel-Colour Manicure costs £14.99 and is available from Boots in quite a few shades, I received the Sugar Plum shade which is a lovely deep plum.

In the kit you receive 3 products: Gel Perfect Gel-Colour, Activator and Brush Cleaner.

The process is quite easy, you apply a layer of Activator to your nails and before it dries you apply a thin layer of the Gel-Colour, you then clean the brush in the Brush Cleaner bottle ready to apply to your other hand. You then repeat the process to achieve full coverage and apply a final coat of the Activator to seal everything in. There are some really useful ‘How To’ videos here.

The polish sets quite quickly and it has a lovely shine to it, it feels light on the nails and doesn’t look too thick. The manicure lasted 1 week on my nails without chipping or any signs of wear, I removed it because I wanted to try a different colour but I’m sure it would have lasted around 2 weeks before regrowth appeared.

I will definitely be buying some more shades of the Gel Perfect manicure, there are some glitters that look like they’d be amazing on toe nails!

Have you ever had a gel manicure?

Love Me Beauty Box: Edition 1 – May 2014 – £10*

If you’re new to Love Me Beauty, there are three boxes to choose from each month each with 4-5 products in with a mix of full size and sample size things. The box costs £10 + P&P and is available any where in the UK with a letter box! It’s really nice to pick which products you receive each month as there are no nasty surprises, you get to choose. I really like this aspect of the Love Me Beauty box as it’s what has put me off other sample boxes like this, I want to make sure I’m getting mymoney’s worth and not being left with a box of things I don’t like.

Love Me Beauty have been on top form recently, their boxes are definitely the best in terms of variety and interesting products.

Here’s what I received in this month’s box:

Nail Girls – Nail Polish in Nude Pink - £13.50

Raw Skincare – Lip Balm in Hint of Mint - £1.98

GO Stationery – Pocket Notebooks in Vintage Ditsy - £5

Suti – Trial Pack in Cleanse Balm, Purity Balm & Fabulous Foot Balm - £6.50

Sally Hansen – Gem Crush Nail Polish in Big Money - £6.99

I picked up this beaut of a nail polish a couple of months ago and I couldn’t wait to try it out on my nails, it’s so sparkly! I love that it has a gold glitter base with pink glitter particles added in as well – it’s a combination I’ve not see before. The polish is quite dense so it only took a couple of coats to get a good coverage. I really like the way this polish looks, it’s glittery but not too ‘in your face’.

I’m loving that Sally Hansen is available in Boots now too!

Have you tried any of the Sally Hansen polishes?
