Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

Nails: Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel Manicure

I’ve been interested in gel manicures for a little while now but I don’t think I could commit to one colour being on my nails for over a week, so I’ve never had one done. When I saw this product I was intrigued, a gel manicure you can do yourself without a UV lamp. I had to give it a go.

The Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel-Colour Manicure costs £14.99 and is available from Boots in quite a few shades, I received the Sugar Plum shade which is a lovely deep plum.

In the kit you receive 3 products: Gel Perfect Gel-Colour, Activator and Brush Cleaner.

The process is quite easy, you apply a layer of Activator to your nails and before it dries you apply a thin layer of the Gel-Colour, you then clean the brush in the Brush Cleaner bottle ready to apply to your other hand. You then repeat the process to achieve full coverage and apply a final coat of the Activator to seal everything in. There are some really useful ‘How To’ videos here.

The polish sets quite quickly and it has a lovely shine to it, it feels light on the nails and doesn’t look too thick. The manicure lasted 1 week on my nails without chipping or any signs of wear, I removed it because I wanted to try a different colour but I’m sure it would have lasted around 2 weeks before regrowth appeared.

I will definitely be buying some more shades of the Gel Perfect manicure, there are some glitters that look like they’d be amazing on toe nails!

Have you ever had a gel manicure?

  1. I've had a gel manicure done before but because it's so expensive, it's not something I do very often! This seems like such a good alternative, might need to go buy myself one (or maybe two...) x
