Wedding Wednesday: The Engagement Party

Engagement Tea Party – Saturday 19th September 2015 Last Saturday we held our engagement party at our house, we spent the day with around ...

TROVE – Kickstarter Campaign*

TROVE is the ultimate slim wallet and card case, it’s the same size as a credit card and you can really fit a lot into this tiny wallet. I’ve been trying one out for the past week or so and I’m seriously considering just getting rid of my big purse all together – I can fit everything I usually carry in my purse into this tiny wallet.

As you can see from the images above, I managed to fit my most used cards, business cards, receipts and cash into the TROVE. So it is perfect for downsizing the amount of things that you carry around with you – you can easily fit this little wallet in a pocket or in a small evening bag. It would be perfect for keeping your oyster card and bank card in on trips to London where you don’t want to carry too much with you.

If you’re interested in purchasing a TROVE they will be available to buy once they have reached their Kickstarter target – they’re currently over half way there! So if you’re looking to invest in a quirky but incredibly useful product please go and pledge some cash. You can find the TROVE Kickstarter page here: ks.trove.cc

Let me know what you think, I’m sure that TROVE would love to hear your feedback.

Would you consider converting from a large purse to a small wallet?

Love Me Beauty Box: July Edition 2

Love Me Beauty Box – July Edition 2 - £12.95*

It’s time for another Love Me Beauty Box, this month I chose Edition 2 as it had a good mix of products. There are seven products included in this months box, and only one of them is a sample size – amazing value for money there! I was also pleased to see that there are four full-size make-up products included, this is definitely what I like to see when choosing a beauty subscription box.

If you’re new to Love Me Beauty it’s a monthly subscription service which releases three boxes each month for you to choose from. Each box contains at least five products which are usually a mix of full size and sample size – more often than not the majority of the items are full size though. It costs £12.95 per month, including shipping within the UK.

I was very excited to try out the Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion as I have tried other Weleda products and been impressed – I’ve been using it on my sunburnt shoulders for the past week and it is amazing. The skin is soft and has already turned into a lovely tan. The OFRA eye shadow in Bliss is the most perfect shimmery bronze shade – perfect for wearing with a sun tan. The OFRA Liquid Lipstick is a fun bubblegum pink shade and it seriously does not budge from your lips without a make-up wipe. I’ve yet to try the two So Susan products but the Flutter Mascara looks like it will be fab for defining the lashes and the Dual Brow Powder will be perfect for filling in my brows when they need a bit of oomph. There are also 20 The Teashed Tea Bags to try out – I don’t drink tea so I will be donating these to my Mum and will let you know how she likes them.

Overall, I’m super impressed with this month’s Love Me Beauty Box – I can see myself getting use out of each of the items and it’s definitely worth the £13 you pay!

Have you tried out Love Me Beauty yet?

Life: Time for Change

Photo 27-10-2013 10 12 59 (1)
I haven’t sat down and just written for a while so I thought I’d give it a go. This blog has been almost 4 years in the making and somewhere along the way it’s lost it’s purpose. In all honesty it’s me that has changed, over the past 4 years I’ve lost the enthusiasm I had when I was a fresh-faced graduate; back then I loved writing and I loved make-up so a beauty blog seemed the perfect fit. I was also single and so I had a lot of time to dedicate to blogging – I loved my blog, I would spend every spare moment I had researching and testing and connecting with other bloggers.

But now; I’m 25 and I’ve been in a relationship for almost two years. I have lost the enthusiasm I used to have for the latest beauty launch or a new social media site. I am happier than I have ever been before, with exception to the university years, and don’t feel like I can write about make-up with as much passion as I used to. In fact, sometimes it feels a bit like a chore. I have more things going on in my life, and more responsibilities now that I’m getting older.

As Lily says I think that beauty and fashion blogs have had their day. So I’m going to stop trying to force myself into being a successful beauty blog and just concentrate on sharing a part of me. It doesn't matter if no one reads it or comments as it will be a record of my mid-twenties.

My life is about to go through a lot of changes (I hope!); buying a house with my boyfriend, teacher training and a bit of a healthier lifestyle – so I hope you will continue to join me on the way. Obviously I will still post about some beauty products as I do still use them and I will still be trying out new things on the quest to the holy grail. But I’m hoping not to have to force myself to keep up with everyone else.

It feels better to just let things out.

If there are any lifestyle type posts you would like me to do feel free to leave them in a comment below, I’m quite excited by the prospect of letting go of beauty blogging.

If you are after some excellent beauty blogs (that are consistent and very successful with the subject) I would definitely recommend:
The Sunday Girl – For all the latest launches
Amber’s Beauty Talk – For everything natural beauty & skincare
Sophie Rose Hearts – For fab reviews with beautiful pictures

Review: Organic Surge Awakening Body Wash

Organic Surge  - Super Fresh Awakening Bodywash - £5.99*

This could be the greatest 'morning shower gel' that has ever been invented, a big claim but it deserves it. I've been trying out the new Super Fresh Awakening Bodywash by Organic Surge for about a month now and it really does give you a boost when used in the morning.

As always with Organic Surge this bodywash is packed full of natural ingredients that are kind to your skin and essential oils to get your mind fine-tuned too. This particular bodywash has been specially formulated to keep you fresh all day long, it works by targeting the bacteria that causes odour with a blend of essential oils. This blend of oils helps to detox, rejuvenate and hydrate the skin making every shower beneficial to your skin.

Since I began using this bodywash I've noticed that my skin has become smooth and looks a bit more 'alive', the blend of oils also helps me to feel a bit more awake in the mornings. I notice that when I don't use this shower gel I take a lot longer getting ready!

So if you need something to help you get a wriggle on in the mornings (and to give you lovely soft skin) I would definitely suggest investing £5.99 in this.

Launch: Bourjois Summer

Last Wednesday evening (after a horrendous day at work) I popped down to Leicester Square for the #bourjoissummer event. The event was held on the rooftop of Global Radio and it had amazing views of London that everyone was admiring (and photographing!).

The London Eye and Big Ben

The Shard and the London Coliseum

Bourjois had invited lots of bloggers and press to see the new collections before they release later in the summer. There was a bar serving cocktails, BBQ themed canapes, a Capital FM DJ and lots of photographers around making everyone feel special. There were even a couple of psychics doing lip readings which turned out to be very accurate. Make-up artists and nail technicians were on hand to refresh lips and tips.

The new lines were displayed around the room nestled amongst beautiful pink and red flower arrangements, no skimping on the decorations here! There are quite a few new products coming to Bourjois this summer including a whole host of new bronzers, waterproof eyeliners, and lipsticks. There were also some gorgeous nail polishes on display in pretty pinks and peaches.

Bourjois were kind enough to give us a jam-packed goodie bag with something from each of the new ranges to test out. I will be trialling all the products over the next few weeks and will be reviewing each of them - I'm super excited to try out the new eyeliners.

Favourites: Bourjois

Bourjois is a brand that I always look to when I’m in need of a new base, they always seem to have something that the other brands don’t offer. I struggle with their shade range in the winter as my skin is so fair but once the sun starts shining I can work with the first couple of shades. I’ve also been a fan of their mascara since I was at school and I used to steal my Mum’s Coup de Theatre – you know the one with the white end and the black that you layer over. I’ve been loving the three products above for the last little while and thought I’d review them for you.

Bourjois – Volume 1 Seconde Mascara - £9.99*

This mascara promises to add volume to the lashes without clumping – sounds perfect, no? It has a special wand that has little balls and spikes to grab every lash and add definition. I really, really love this mascara it makes my lashes look thick and full and even a little bit longer. It is super easy to use, one coat and you’re done. I like how it boosts my lashes for every day and makes them look a lot better than when they’re naked! I need to pick up the waterproof version so that I can wear it for work every day and see how it lasts in the unpredictable environment of an SEN school.

Bourjois – 123 Perfect CC Cream - £9.99

I’m a big fan of BB Creams but I hadn’t tried a CC Cream until I saw this one on the Bourjois stand the other day, to be honest I wasn’t sure of the difference between them. I guess that the CC Cream has colour correction pigments in it to fix the flaws in your skin. I like to wear slightly less coverage for work and this is perfect – it applies easily, gives a glowy finish and evens out my skin tone. I find that I don’t need to powder it either, after application it sets and stays put for several hours. I’ve been wearing it for the past few weeks and I haven’t noticed any reactions. The shade is perfect for my summer colour and blends in with the tan on the rest of my body.

Bourjois – Healthy Mix Serum - £10.99

When I bought this foundation it was a momentous occasion – for the first time in my life I bought the second to lightest shade. To match the skin on my chest (which always catches the sun) I needed to buy a darker foundation so I didn’t look like a weird white-faced person. I had tried this foundation a long time ago and I can’t remember if I liked it or not, but this time around I’m getting on a lot better with it. The finish is so lovely and glowy and it has great coverage. It feels really light on the skin and doesn’t cling on to dry bits, it doesn’t slip off oily areas either. I’ve been using it as a going out foundation as I really love the finish it gives – my skin really does look radiant and healthy.
